Is Suspension Enhancement Needed To Tow 13500lb Trailer With 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Question:

Need help my truck is a 2021 6.6 2500HD LTZ GVWR 11350lbs GCWR 27500lbs Payload Max 3086lbs TWR 18500lbs We want to buy a Arcadia 3660 Dry weight 10763lbs Dry hitch weight 1880lbs GVWR 13500lbs With wife, dogs and stuff 500lbs. We do not plan on packing trailer with 2737lbs of stuff nor running with filled tanks. We have less than a 1000lbs of gear in our current trailer. My truck is has goose neck package so plan on towing with Reese goose box. So here is my questions, is this too much trailer for my truck? Should I add Timbren to help support load? Any other recommendations?

Based on the capacities you mentioned of your 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with the 6.6L engine you will not be over loading as you have a towing capacity of 18500lbs and your trailer only comes in at 13500lbs max.

You will likely have some squat in the rear due to the pin weight of the trailer, but it shouldn't be too bad at under 13000lbs.

If you decide you want to add suspension enhancement I do not recommend going with the Timbrens simply due to how harsh the unloaded ride is with them.

Instead I recommend going with the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Rear Axle # SSR-203-40-2 which adds 3000lbs of support to your rear suspension to prevent sag when towing your trailer. The # SSR-203-40-2 will have a much smoother ride than the Timbren system while still giving you plenty of support.

I included a video of the # SSR-203-40-2 being installed in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 for you to take a look at.
