Recommended Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2017 Toyota Camry That Requires Minimal Trimming
Question:
Etrailer sells several class II hitches that fit the 2017 Camry mine is basic LE. Which one should I get in order to eliminate or minimize the trimming of the plastic cover underneath the spare tire compartment? Bought a hitch from etrailer several years ago, but that was for a 2010 Corolla, very straightforward unlike the later Camry.

For your 2017 Toyota Camry I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 36540 you were looking at as when we installed it on a similar 2016 Toyota Camry we did not do any trimming to the plastic you mentioned, or the heat shield.
Both of the hitch options do involve drilling one hole in the frame rail on each side of your vehicle to mount the hitch.
The # 36540 has a 300lb tongue weight rating and 3500lb trailer weight rating making it a perfect option for carrying a bike rack like the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR, a cargo carrier, or even a ball mount for light duty towing.
If you can tell me what you are planning on using your trailer hitch receiver for I would be happy to recommend the best products for your needs.
I included videos for both of the products mentioned being installed on a Toyota Camry for you to take a look at.
