What Does Optional Adapter For Roadmaster Invisibrake RM-8700-9530 Do?
Question:
bought this adapter for my existing invisibrake system because the 9530 monitor instructions say to based on my serial number on my invisbrake system. hooking this tow vehicle up to a new motorhome. it seems to work fine with out this adapter. does not appear to connect to the invisibrake system directly . connects to the the cold side of brake pedal and battery power not using the break away monitoring and appears to use that to trigger the monitor led. can you give me a little insight into the purpose of this cable looks like some chips in it and if i absolutely need it thanks

I reached out to Roadmaster and the reason your Older Roadmaster Invisibrake # RM-8700 requires the # RM-8700-9530 is that it was made before the monitor 9530 was made, and the adapter has a built in microchip that regulates the voltage to the # RM-9530 that the newer Invisibrakes do automatically.
Without using the adapter the Invisibrake can engage randomly causing quite a safety issue so I recommend using the adapter.
If yours is damaged then just use the # RM-8700-9530 as a replacement.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
