Flat Towing A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Question:
Will a 2014 Silverado 1500 fit on a roadmaster her dolly
asked by: Richard F
Expert Reply:
For your 2014 Chevy Silverado you'll need to flat tow because there isn't a dolly that can handle the size and weight of your truck.
To Flat tow you'll need the following items:
Baseplate: I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms
Item # RM-3176-3
Tow Bar: I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs Item # RM-520 which will match perfectly with the baseplates.
Tow Bar Wiring: I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154
If RV has a 3-wire system (and is not already wired for a trailer connector) a converter is required (RM-732 - sold separately). This wiring system will use your trucks tail lights so you don't have to run separate lights that could scratch your paint.
Breaking system: I recommend the Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System - Proportional
Item # HM39530 which is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and is a one time install instead of having to run cables every time you want to flat tow your truck.
Safety Cables: I recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs
Item # RM-643
All of these parts are confirmed fits for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and are all manufactured by Roadmaster (besides the braking system) so you don't have to worry about getting extra adapters to match together different brands.
