Why are the Aries RidgeStep Running Boards Different Lengths

Why is there an 8foot and only 3foot for drivers side?

The kit with the 3' drivers side step # AAC3696 is designed for work vans that you need a step for the drivers door and a full length step for the passenger and rear door. The passenger side has a rear door to access the back seat. There are also kits that come with full length driver and passenger sides # AA2055524
