Parts to Adapt 4-Pole on Vehicle to 7-way Trailer Connector On Boat Trailer With Surge Coupler
Question:
I have a 4-way vehicle-side connector. My boat trailer has Reverse Solenoid. Is my fix to install your part ETBC7 and use only the yellow wire to splice into the reverse light wires at the rear of the vehicle and the white for ground leaving the blue and black unused? - Or is there a better solution to power the center pin of the 7-way? The vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Highlander. Thank you

Expert Reply:
Assuming the boat trailer has a 7-way trailer connector on it, you're certainly on the right track. You won't need the entire # ETBC7 kit, however. You'll just need the # 37185 adapter.
As you mentioned, you'd ground the white wire to the vehicle frame or chassis and tap the yellow wire into the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit, plug the adapter into the existing 4-pole and then you'll be good to go.
