How To Transport 1 Adult Trike On A 2014 Toyota Corolla
Question:
I would like to buy a cargo carrier to haul a small adult tricycle 55” long, 23.5” wide, 65 lbs. My car is a 2014 Toyota Corolla. What combination of hitch, adaptor, and basket/platform would work for me? Thanks,

The correct trailer hitch receiver for your 2014 Toyota Corolla is Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11265. This offers a very simple installation process that only requires 2 bolts to be installed on each side of the receiver; no trimming or modifications are required.
Your best bet is the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Tilting - Folding - 500 lbs # e98874. You will need to use Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch # HTAD in order to convert the 1-1/4" receiver opening to a 2" opening for this cargo carrier. Keep in mind that this adapter will reduce your hitch's capacity by 50%. Since the Curt hitch receiver has a 200lb max tongue weight, it will now be reduced to 100lbs. The cargo carrier weighs 48lbs, so with your 65lb bike you are looking at around 113lbs which is over the 100lb capacity.
