Replacing OEM Landing Gear with Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set - 36

Question:

I have a 2011 Keystone Laredo 321bh. I want to replace existing but failing front electric landing gear jacks with the Reese 36” lift 8000 lb electric jack system. My 5th wheel dry weighs in at 13500 lbs. will these jacks as long as the distance from the current weld stops is the same, work to support my rig?

Expert Reply:

Yes the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set - 36" Lift - 8,000 lbs, # RP500708 will work for your application. It can be used with a trailer that weighs more than 8,000 lbs because it is only supporting a portion of total load, the tires, wheels, and axles are supporting most of the weight. The pin weight of a 5th wheel trailer is approximately 20% of the loaded trailer weight.

The measurement from inside of top weld stop to inside of bottom weld stop is15-1/2". The measurement between outside of weld stop to outside of weld stop is17-1/2".
