Malone Megawing Mounting Outside The Roof Rack Feet
Question:
I have a 2011 Outback with the Yakima Landing Pads and 60 inch crossbars. I would like to carry two kayaks with the Malone Megawing. Is it safe to mount these on the outside of the crossbars where they stick out past the Landing Pads? Thanks?

Expert Reply:
The MegaWing # MPG107MD is designed to be mounted on the inside of the feet. If you're wanting to utilize the outside rails from the feet you should use a kayak pad like these pads # MPG314. They wrap around the bars so you can have it going over the foot so it's on both sides of the foot. This will make it easier to load your kayaks since it's closer to the edge.
