Can Weight Distribution Help Sway on Aluminum Frame Trailer

Question:

I have 22 Aluma trailer i tow either 2 UTVs or a race car with a 2019 Raptor. The trailer is 1800 lbs empty and around 6500 loaded i think. I have replacement springs on the truck that are rated for 800 pounds in the bed or tounque. My issue is sway, it does move around in the wind and makes long hauls rough. Am i just using the wrong truck or can a WDH with sway solve? What can be used on an aluminum trailer? thanks

It sounds like your weight distribution system is most likely rated properly but the sway you are experiencing is not something that a WD system would be effective at eliminating. Also worth noting is you said it's an aluminum trailer which is almost always excluded from use with weight distribution.

So see if you can move weight forward in the trailer and that will do a great job reducing persistent sway. And then to get rid of sway from high winds the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 would be a great option. This installs on the trailer and with it's internal sensor will detect sway and apply the brakes in a manner that will stop it before you notice it.
