Towing Mirrors for 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon Towing Trailer

Question:

I have another question for you we are towing about 2,000 lb with a 20-21 Subaru outback and experience a little bit of sway with the trailer we have it loaded to the max tongue weight but we still have sway. What would you recommend in the way of anti-sway equipment. Thanks a lot

I recommend the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirrors # CM11952-2 since there are no custom fit mirror extensions for your 2021 Subaru Outback. They have very large 7-1/2" wide x 4-3/4" tall mirror that can be turned vertically or horizontal to suit your preference. I like the simple strap system so that there is less failure points than the more complex ones that take a long time to setup from the beginning.

With your Subaru not compatible to use a weight and sway distribution hitch if you have a trailer brakes I recommend the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System # 335TSC-1000. This system will utilize the brakes on the trailer to reduce sway and keep you safe. If you don't have trailer brakes since it is such a light trailer I suggest using a Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. This is a mechanical sway control that basically acts as a brake pad to slow movement side to side. It is important to know that this sway bar must be removed when backing up or doing tight turning. The Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 will attach to your 2" receiver ball mount with 1" ball hole no wider than 2-5/8". This will give you the attachment point for the 2nd ball of the sway control kit.
