How To Transport 2 Heavy Kayaks On The Roof Of A 2017 Nissan Armada

We were looking on your website and we are not sure which to purchase we need to carry 2 kayaks on a 2017 Nissan Armada that has no crossbars just roof rack. 1 12ft Ascend widest width in middle is 31 and total weight is 77lbs and 1 13ft Ascend widest width in the middle is 33 and total weight is 96lbs. Please let us know what all is needed. Thank you

For a crossbar setup that is compatible with your 2017 Nissan Armada that has factory roof rails you will want to go with Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2 # TH711520 along with Foot Pack # TH710401 . This crossbar setup will attach to your factory roof rails and has an overall weight capacity of 220lbs which is the highest weight capacity available.

The best route for mounting your kayaks onto the crossbar is to use the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier - Fixed - Universal Mount # S510. This is made to hold 1 kayak, so you will need to order 2 in order to fit both of your kayaks. This carrier will simply clamp onto the Thule crossbars and it has a weight capacity of 99lbs which will be plenty for each kayak. The kayaks are mounted on the side, so two of these carriers along with the two kayaks will easily fit on the Thule 60" crossbars mentioned above. Tie-down straps are included with this kayak carrier kit.
