Parts Needed to Install 7 Way Trailer Connector on 2008 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Part No 118496 — Wiring harness for 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Is there a version of this that outputs to a 7pin RV connector? I like the easy connect-ability of 118496, but realistically want the 7pin connector. What are my options?

Generally speaking, unless there is a direct plug and play 7 way connector available for your vehicle, you'll be using the 4 way plug as the base for your 7 way connector. The Tekonsha # 118496 is a nice starting point on your 2008 Toyota Tacoma and offers you an easy, plug and play installation; from there, you'll want to use the # ETBC7, which gives you the remaining components you'll need to add a 7 way on your truck. The # ETBC7 comes with all of the wiring and breakers you'll need to complete the installation of a 7 way on your Tacoma.
If you don't already have a trailer brake controller, the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is one of our most popular and reliable controllers. The P3 provides you with proportional braking for your trailer with adjustable gain, and the LCD screen is easy to read so you won't ever have to wonder what settings your controller is at.
I've linked some review and installation videos of these parts for you to check out, but this will give you everything you need to install a 7 way connector on your Tacoma.
