For your 2016 Audi Q5 I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75940 due to the hidden crosstube which means once installed only the receiver will be visible, and since it has a 750lb tongue weight rating and 5000lb trailer weight rating making it a great choice for towing a trailer. Your Q5 may not have a towing capacity this high, so you will need to check the owner's manual to find your vehicles towing capacity and use the lower rating between the vehicle and trailer hitch.

Moving on to adding a 7-way connector you will first need to install a 4-way connector. I recommend the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56404.

With a 4-way connector installed you can now install a 7-way connector using the # ETBC7 which works perfectly with a traditional trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, or the option I recommend is installing the # ETBC7L and using the Curt Echo Wireless # C51180 if you need a trailer brake controller.

I recommend the # C51180 due to it plug in directly to the 7-way connector which has a few benefits. First it will not require you to run any wiring into the passenger compartment of your Q5 or drill any holes to mount the controller. Second it can be used in any vehicle that has a functioning 7-way connector so you can use it on multiple different vehicles without an in-depth install.

To complete your towing setup you will also need a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip which can all be found in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
