Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2009 Nissan Cube with Ground Effects

Question:

My model has the ground effects kit like the chrome model. Will this fit? Also, bought a 3 bike rack to slide into receiver. Do I need the pin to take it in and out when not in use? It will do 2inch and 1 1/4.

We do have trailer hitch options for your 2009 Nissa Cube, but the Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch, # 87538, that you referenced will not fit on your vehicle. This hitch was designed for Nissan pickup trucks.

For your vehicle, I recommend looking at the Curt # C11202. According to Curt, this hitch will fit all models of the 2009 Nissan Cube, however they do not mention if any bumper modification is required on the models with ground effects.

At this time the only trailer hitches that are available for your vehicle are class I trailer hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. You should check with the manufacturer of your bike rack to ensure it is compatible with class I trailer hitches. A class I trailer hitch will have a small piece of metal welded inside the receiver tube to prevent certain hitch mounted accessories from being used on a class I trailer hitch. If you can tell me the brand and model number of your bike rack, I can see if it is compatible with a class I trailer hitch.

Two other things to note. First, you will need a stabilizer strap when using a bike rack or cargo carrier like # 18050. Secondly, class I hitches are limited to 2 bikes regardles of weight.
