Recommended 12" Brakes and Bearings for 2017 Keystone Cougar 268RSWE
Question:
Looking for proper brakes self adjusting and bearings for my 2017 Keystone Cougar 268RSWE. When I enter that vehicle and search for brakes, all I get is 10 models, but current brakes are 12 with a 5 bolt pattern. The axle is Lippert 4400# stock, and existing brakes not self-adjusting show part # B12E-21 and -22. Can you recommend proper brakes and bearings for this setup please? Thanks.

To replace your 12" brakes I recommend using the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA, which are self adjusting like you're seeking and will work with your 12" hubs. These brakes don't come with any mounting hardware, so you may also need the # BRKH12 to replace your hardware. This brake kit attaches to 5 bolt mounting flanges.
For the bearings, a typical 4400-lbs hub has 10" drums and brakes, so you've likely got something that isn't necessarily standard. For this reason you will need to remove the hubs and unpack the bearings to see what you've got in order for me to determine what bearings you'll need; your existing bearings should have numbers stamped on the backs of them that will help identify them. If they don't you can measure the spindles using a digital calipers to determine what the inner diameter will be and choose replacements based off that.
I've linked a helpful article we did on this process that shows how/where to measure on the spindle, as well as linking the most popular options. If you can let me know what bearings you find in your existing hubs I can help you locate the correct bearings, races and seals.
