Availability Of Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank To Improve Ground Clearance
Question:
I have a equalizer W/D hitch and with the proper setup the shank only has a ground clearance of 6.5 inches. I’m at the very top of the shank is it ok to have 3 inches or so cut off the bottom at a machine shop?

I have another option for you, but I do not recommend cutting the bottom of your weight distribution shank off as it would void the warranty of the system and could weaken the system.
Instead I recommend replacing the shank with a shorter one to increase the ground clearance when installed on your 2016 Ram 1500. Depending on how much rise or drop you need to level the system an option like the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4500 would be a great option.
if you can send me a picture of your setup I would be happy to recommend a replacement shank for you.
