Starting with the trailer brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is a top of the line proportional trailer brake controller that matches the braking intensity that you apply to your vehicles brakes to your trailer brakes. The P3 # 90195 also is our most popular trailer brake controller due to it being extremely reliable, the easy to read LCD screen, and the built in diagnostics that are easy to read and understand.

To install the P3 # 90195 in your 2016 Toyota 4Runner you will need the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers # 3041-P as long as your 4-Runner has a factory 7-way connector. The # 3041-P will plug into the factory trailer brake controller port located near the emergency brake pedal.

If you do not have a factory 7-way connector you will need to install one using the # ETBC7 and hardwire the P3 # 90195 in using the included pigtail connector.

Moving on to a ball mount and hitch ball you will need the Draw-Tite Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # DT49MR which has the 7500lb towing capacity you mentioned, and has a 2" hitch ball that will be very close to even with the top of your trailer hitch receiver.
