Base Plate, Wiring, And Tow Bar For A 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon With A Steel Front Bumper

Question:

Can you direct me for the proper tow bar assembly for my 2020 jeep gladiator rubicon with factory steel bumper? The base plate kit, tow bar assembly, and electrical wiring. I have a brake system already. Thanks.

For your 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Item # RM-521453-5. This base plate is designed for the Rubicon with a steel bumper, connects to the chassis of the vehicle to provide a solid connection point for the tow bar. It has removable arms so when you are not flat towing the vehicle the arms can be stored away and the base plate will maintain a nice clean look on the front of the vehicle.

For a tow bar I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates Item # e74ZR. this tow bar is designed to work with the direct connect baseplate, has a 6000lb towing capacity which is a 1000lbs more than the 5000lb Gladiator Rubicon. The shank provides a 1-1/2" rise or drop. Each arm can be folded to opposite sides for storage or on the same side when you arrive at your destination and remove the vehicle.

The tow bar does not come with safety pins which I recommend the Replacement Base Pins Item # RM-910029 to secure the tow bar to the base plate.

For your wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Item # RM-15267. This kit allows the factory taillights on the Gladiator to receive light functions from the motor home so everyone around you knows whether you are turning, braking, or driving at night. The diodes are spliced into the factory wiring behind each taillight to allows the proper function transfer and protect the factory wiring from back feed if there is a wiring issue between the vehicles. It comes with the 6 pole plug to mount to the front of the vehicle which allows the included umbilical to connect between the two vehicles.

If you are using a portable braking system it will require the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps Item # RM-9332. Since the vehicle does not have an active 12 volt outlet when the key is removed the braking system does require it for power. It simply connects directly to the battery for constant power.
