Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier For RV That Is Compatible With Flat Towing

Question:

I have a 2008 Hurricane 32’ w/ 245/75-19.5 tires. I am looking at the Roadmaster spare carrier. I also will be flat towing a Wrangler YJ or TJ. Which one is recommended for my rig? Thanks for your time.

The Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening - 2" Hitches # RM-195225 will be your only option for a RV spare tire carrier that will allow for flat towing. This will fit your RV's 2" receiver and can safely hold tires ranging from 16" - 24-1/2". The Roadmaster # RM-195225 has a flat towing capacity of 10,000 lbs. Keep in mind that this carrier will reduce the tongue weight capacity by 33% on your RV's hitch. For example, if your current hitch has a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs, it will be reduced to approximately 234 lbs when using the spare carrier. This will not be a concern when flat towing since the towed vehicle is supporting its own weight.

Your 245/75-19.5 tires have a diameter of approximately 34". For a spare tire cover, use Rampage # RA773535 as this will fit tires that are 33"-35" in diameter.
