Harness To Use Tekonsha P3 On 2020 Subaru Ascent
Question:
2020 Subaru Ascent with OEM trailer package. I am looking to buy the Tekonsha P3 controller and this adapter. My vehicle came with an “adapter” that contains a fuse, but this adapter does not have an in-line fuse. Do I need a fuse? Will this adapter cause an issue even though it is plug-and-play? Do I need to use the adapter that came with the vehicle and has a fuse and plug into that, or can I just use this adapter directly and be fine?

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 is a great option for a 2020 Subaru Ascent and it can be used with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3062-P for a plug-in-play install.
I have not yet seen a factory brake controller pigtail for the Subaru Ascent but it's unlikely to contain a fuse as fuse protection needs to be close to the battery. It may be a diode which is more common and in which case this harness would have one as well although hidden.
