I have a thor class a gas motorhome. I would like to upgrade the receiver hitch on the back of it to a model with a 1000 lb tongue weight capacity. Do you know any hitch that would fit?

Yes! What you need is a heavy duty receiver hitch welded onto your trailer to get that heavy weight capacity. I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-07. It is a Class V hitch, but also has the 2" hitch receiver that is popular for hitch accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers.
With a 1,600 lb tongue weight capacity, this will be more than enough for your needs. This hitch # 41990-07 has a 7-inch drop which is determined by the mounting brackets. This is to make sure that, after being welded to your frame, the hitch drops down far enough to clear your rear bumper. If you need a shorter drop, this Curt Hitch # 15901 drops 3 inches, and for a longer drop, we have a Draw-Tite Hitch # 41990-16 with a 16" drop.
