Recommended Wire And Circuit Breaker To Add 12v Power To Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Adapter

Question:

Good morning, I have purchased a wireless brake controller and have a wiring question after studying many wiring diagrams and your QandA section. The truck has a 4 way flat connector that is now connected to a new Hopkins Endurance 7 blade and 4 flat kit. After connecting the 4 flat connector I have 4 wires remaining from the Hopkins, White, Red, Blue, Purple. I do not have a black wire for 12 v power lead as indicated in the wiring diagrams I have seen. In this case, is the Red auxiliary power lead, is this the lead to connect to the fuse and battery with? I understand that i dont need the blue for the wireless controller and the white goes to ground. Thanks for your assistance

Thank you for the pictures!

Based on the pictures you sent I believe you have the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 4-Way Flat to 7-Way RV Trailer Adapter w/ 4-Way Vehicle End Plug # HM47180.

You are correct that the Red wire from the adapter will get connected to the battery on your 1993 Toyota T100 Pickup, and since you are using the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 you will need to use 12 gauge wire and a 30 amp circuit breaker which can be purchased as a kit # BRK-ELECKIT. The only other connection you will need to make is grounding the white wire to the frame of your truck as you mentioned.

Also since you are using the Echo # C51180, you will not need to connect the blue trailer brake wire, and as long as your trailer does not have reverse lights you will not need to use it either and can simply zip tie them to the harness to keep them out of the way.

I included a video of the # ETBC7L being installed as it was designed for Echo # C51180 and will show you how to run the power wire and circuit breaker to the battery of your vehicle.
