I am going to be installing item K71-707-01 lift kit on my camper and I need to extend the trailer break wires, what gage wire do I need for the extension?

Although the wires exiting the brake magnets on most electric brake assemblies are 14 or 16 gauge, 10 or 12 gauge wire is routinely used on the brake circuit from the trailer connector to the magnets. 12 gauge wire which we offer by the foot as part # 12-1-1 would work perfectly to construct a jumper to connect the wires from your brake magnets to the existing brake circuit on the trailer.

Rather than using scotch locks or quick connectors, I'd recommend soldering the connections and then using heat shrink tubing like # DW05449 to protect the connections.
