Options for Finding Stoplight Circuit to Use for Installing Camper Shell on Truck

Question:

2020 Honda Ridgeline with factory tow package and 7-blade connector. Im adding a topper that has a brake light. I dont want the dealer to splice taillight wires because Ive had problems on previous trucks. User forums describe a harness opportunity under the drivers side back door, but Im guessing not sure that my factory tow package is using this connection. Are there any harness options from any connector location for a brake light to avoid splicing? Thanks for your help.

Expert Reply:

On your Honda Ridgeline there are two for sure places you can get a dedicated stoplight circuit and that is at the brake pedal switch wiring or at the third brake light wiring at the rear of the cab.

Or you can use a universal stoplight switch part # RM-751000 which you'd install to the brake pedal.
