How to Prevent Sway on your Trailer if you Can't Use a Weight Distribution System and Sway Control

Question:

Hello, I have a 20’ long with extra 30” v-nosex 8.5’ wide and 8.5’ high custom cargo trailer. Total weight in this thing is close to 8700lbs. I’m pulling it with a 2020 5.3L V8 Chevy Silverado 1500 with Max trailering package had airbags installed on the springs for the weight. Question is: Tongue weight on this is 1440lbs. I have it hitched to a CURT Rebellion XD receiver. I am still getting sway when I reach 50mph. The tongue measures from middle of the coupling to the tip of the V at 16” so i think a weight distribution hitch is out of the question. What else can install to help stabilize this on the highway? I can reduce the tongue weight down around 200lbs but not sure if that will help. Also, I unhitch the trailer multiple times a day so I need something convenient too.

We have a way for you to reduce the sway on your trailer!

Because your custom coupler does not have a length long enough to attach a weight distribution system or a friction sway control, you will have to use the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System, part # 335TSC-1000. This system uses your electric brakes to prevent sway before it begins with a proprietary algorithm that applies brakes based on angle, movement, speed, and other parameters.

This system does not interfere with your existing brake controller. The only requirements for this system is electric brakes and a full size on-board trailer battery if you choose to power it through a battery instead of your vehicle's harness.
