Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver And Trailer Brake Controller For 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
I have a JLU Wrangler Rubicon with the tow package and Class II hitch that I want to change to make Class III for towing with a brake controller. What do I need to convert this already installed tow package into so that I can tow with brake controller?

We have exactly the parts you are looking for.
First for a trailer hitch receiver I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98856 which offers a maximum tongue weight rating of 350lbs, and a maximum trailer weight rating of 3500lbs. I check in the owner's manual for your 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and the towing capacity is based on your drivetrain the maximum towing capacity of your vehicle is between 2000lbs - 3500lbs. You will want to check your owners manual to confirm the options on your Jeep to know the exact towing capacity and use the lowest rating between the hitch and vehicle.
Next you mentioned that you have a towing package on the Jeep already, If you have the factory installed 7-way connector I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 as it is a top of the line proportional controller that matches the braking pressure applied to your vehicle's brakes to your trailer brakes, and has great features like an easy to read LCD Screen and built in diagnostics. You can simply use the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers - Jeep # 3073-P to plug into the factory connector to complete the install.
If you added a 7-way connector like the # ETBC7 you I still recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195, but you will need to use the included pig tail harness to hardwire the vehicle as shown in the included video.
Lastly you will need a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip. I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which includes two ball mounts, a 1-7/8" and 2" hitch ball, two hitch pins and clips, and a carrying case.
I included videos for all of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
