Fit of Draw-Tite Class I Receiver on 2013 Buick Verano

Question:

Hi. I am looking at Draw-Tite 24882 for a 2013 Buick Verano. My questions: Is the cross bar hidden in this installation? The tips indicate that a heat shield needs trimmed how extensive is this and would it effect warranty? Thanks

According to the folks at Hidden Hitch, when installed on a 2013 Buick Verano, the crossbar of the # 24882 will be almost totally concealed behind the bumper fascia. You can see how the hitch sits in relation to the bumper by taking a look at the cross-section drawing from the installation instructions.

The instructions state that the heat shield needs to be lowered or a small hole (approximately 1 inch in diameter) cut into it to allow access to the access hole in the frame member. The access to this hole is needed to feed the bolt and block washer into the frame member. If you want, you can simply lower the shield, feed the hardware through the access hole using the bolt leader and reinstall the shield before bolting the hitch into place, no cutting required.

Consumers of aftermarket automotive accessories are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Waranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.

If you lower the shield instead of cutting a hole in it, install the hitch according to the instructions and abide by the stated capacities of the hitch and those of the vehicle (whichever is lower), you will have no warranty implications to be concerned about.
