You can absolutely move the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 between your 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Crew Cab and you 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 Single Cab Work Truck.
What you will need to do is install the Mounting Pocket # 7686 and the included wiring harness for the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 in one of the vehicles and install the Mounting Pocket # 7686 and Pigtail Wiring Harness # 7894 in the other vehicle. This will allow you to quickly unplug the connector from the P2 # 90885 and simply slide it out of the mounting pocket and slide it into the mounting pocket of the other vehicle where you will plug in the connector.
You can use the included mounting bracket that is included with the P2 # 90885 but it screws into the controller which causing you to undo the screws each time you wanted to move the controller instead of simply snapping in and out of the Mounting Pocket # 7686.
Since neither of your vehicles have a plug in adapter for the wiring harness, you will need to hardwire each harness which is shown in the included video. The installation is the same for both your 2009 GMC and your 2007 Chevrolet.
You could do the same thing with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 you were looking at using the same wiring harness # 7894 but using Replacement Mounting Bracket Kit # TK5906 instead.
