Converting 6-Way to 7-Way on Motorhome With Separate Brake Lights & Turn Signals

Question:

2008 Winnebago Navion Iq. I went to swap out the original 6 pin to a standard 7 pin trailer connector and I’m sure you’ve heard this story 1000 times. My trailer brakes activated when I applied the brakes. I disconnected pin #2 everything works but my brake lights. Winn has separate brake turn signal lights. Is there a “box” I can wire in that will fix my Winn 6 pin to a standard 7 pin. Thanks Glenn

We can get you the right parts in order to convert the 6-way on your Winnebago motorhome to a standard 7-way. The 6-way will need to be replaced, and you will also need a converter, which may be the "box" you were referring to. The correct converter that will combine your brake lights and turn signals is the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter # RM-732.

I have added a link below to an install video and the instructions for the converter, and to ensure you have the right wires you are going to need a circuit tester if you don't have one, and I'd go with the Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979.

You will also need that because you will have to hardwire in the 7-way with the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness - Vehicle End # HM47210.

I recommend connecting the wires of the 7-Way with the Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-10.

I have added links below to videos and a help article on wiring for you to check out which may be helpful as well.
