Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2012 Suzuki Equator

We do have a wiring harness designed for your Equator but I spoke with my contact at Curt Manufacturing and found that the custom fit wiring, # 56087, is not recommended for the 2012 Suzuki Equator.

Since your Equator is not equipped with the factory tow package you will need the wiring harness with relays and a 4-Way flat trailer connector, # C56225. This kit will activate the tow package wiring that is present in your vehicle wiring harness.

To install the Curt wiring on your vehicle you will need to locate two connectors. The first is a 12 pin connector that is located behind the passengers side kick panel in the cab of the vehicle. Once you have the kick panel removed, see instructions link, you will find the 12 pin connector that matches the connector on the relay wiring harness included in the kit.

The second connector is a 6 pin connector that is located behind the rear bumper on the drivers side. This connector has a cap on it you will need to remove and then you will plug the trailer connector harness into this connector.
