Recommended Bike Carrier For Two Electric Bikes That Uses A Ramp For Loading
Question:
Hi - My wife and I are 78 years old and we ride ebikes that each weigh 73 lbs. We like to ride our bikes in other cities but they are are getting too heavy for me to lift onto the hitch bike rack. Do you have a hitch bike rack the lowers all the way to the ground for easy loading onto the hitch bike rack? Or do you know of a company that makes a hitch bike rack that does lower to the ground? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I may have an option for you but I am not aware of any bike racks that lower to the ground for loading.
The best option for you would be the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # Y36FR if your vehicle has a 2" hitch receiver, or # Y96FR if your vehicle has a 1 1/4" hitch receiver. Both of these bike racks include a ramp to roll the bikes up instead of having to pick up each bike to put it on the bike rack and the ramp stores conveniently on the bike rack when not in use.
The only concern is that the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR and # Y96FR have a maximum weight capacity of 66lbs per bike, but you should be able to remove the batteries from the bikes and other accessories to easily drop 7lbs per bike.
I included a video of the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR for you to take a look at.
