What Hitch for a 2006 Honda Odyssey With a Cargo Carrier Holding a 350-Pound Load

Question:

I want to be able to carry a snow blower 275 LB on a cargo mover 75 LB with my 2006 Odyssey. Most of the tongue weight ratings that I am seeing are for 350 Do you have a trailor hitch that can safely move this amount of weight?

I believe the cargo mover you are describing is a hitch mount type such as the Pro Series 24x60 Railed Cargo Carrier for 2" Trailer Hitches, part # 63153. Based on the 75-pound carrier weight you describe, I suspect the unit you have is made of steel like this one.

The highest-capacity hitch for the 2006 Honda Odyssey is part # 75270. This is a custom fit bolt-on item that requires no drilling and includes all mounting hardware. I have included a video showing installation on a 2005 Odyssey. Note that the hitch pin and clip are sold separately, part # PC3. Or you may instead want to use a hitch receiver lock, such as part # e98880, to secure your carrier to your vehicle.

You may want to consider an alternate carrier made of aluminum, as these are typically 20-25 pounds lighter than their steel counterparts.

For example, the Curt 20x60 Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - 500 lbs, part # C18100, has a weight carrying capacity of 500 pounds (more than enough for your 275-pound snow blower) but itself weighs only 30 pounds. The combination of this 30-pound carrier plus your snow blower will be within the 350-pound tongue weight limit of a Class III hitch receiver. I have included a video for this cargo carrier showing installation on a 2007 Honda Odyssey.
