Trunk-Mounted Bike Rack for 2005 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2005 subaru forester and was thinking about a roof bike rack. I am a 54 female and am concerned about my ability to get my bike up onto the rack and held in place while tightening the straps on the wheels. I didnt see any reviews that mentioned this and maybe it is more a question about upper body strength and leverage am not a tall strong male than about the rack. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Getting a bike up on top of your roof on a rack is certainly a valid concern, so I would recommend going a different route for carrying your bike (or bikes) on your 2005 Subaru Forester. The easiest and most economical route would be the one I recommend, which is to use a trunk-mounted bike rack. This way you don't have to worry about lifting your bike all the way up and keeping it stable, you just need to place it on the rack, secure it, and off you go.
The rack I recommend for you is the Malone Runway Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # MAL84RR.
This is a functional, economical bike rack that will get the job done to get your bike from Point A to Point B without any complication. It has soft foam pads to keep your Forester safe, and rubber cradles to keep your bikes firmly on the rack.
The only other thing to keep in mind is that if your bike has a step-through or alternative frame you will need to give it a horizontal mounting point by using the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005.
