Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Question:

Hello, I am close to purchasing a 2020 VW GTI. I am interested in the Draw tite hitch receiver: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Volkswagen/Golf/2020/24979.html?vehicleid=202086483 This hitch is proven to work? I do not care for the Curt hidden once since it has to have a second receiver attached up under the back bumber area. Then adding a bike rake, there would need to be two receiver locks so the bikes couldnt be stolen still on the rake as well as a second coupler that can cause double the knocking over bumps. I would not have the space or means to install myself. Do you recommend an auto body shop or mechanic to install? I am wondering about autobody since they have more experience with taking body facia on and off. Thanks

Yes, the Draw-Tite # 24979 is a confirmed fit on your 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTI and it will do a good job for you to carry a bike rack. For installation you would likely want to use either an autobody or mechanic's shop, or preferably an RV dealer with a service department since they're also well versed in this type of process- but really anywhere can do this.

If you're in need of a bike rack recommendation as well, the Thule Camber # TH9058 will provide you with a solution to carry 2 bikes and is a great option at that price point. The Camber does not come with locks, so you would want to add them with a the Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin # THSTL2 and cable lock # TH538XT; these will help keep your investments secured at all times and the Anti-Rattle hitch pin is designed specifically for use with Thule bike racks.

I've linked a quick review video of this rack, and linked our entire selection of bike racks that will fit in the 1-1/4" hitch on the Draw-Tite # 24979 for you in case you're looking for something different.
