I can absolutely recommend a bike rack that will work with your 2016 Honda Pilot.

Since you mentioned wanting to be able to open the truck with the rack mounted you will need to stay away from a trunk mounted bike rack.

Since you do not have a trailer hitch receiver the easiest option would be to install the SeaSucker Mini Bomber Roof 2 Bike Rack # 298-BM2006 which will allow you to mount two bike's to the roof of your Pilot and will also work on any vehicle with a flat roof. Depending on axles on your bike's you may need the 12-mm Thru-Axle Adapters # 298-BA1423, 15-mm Thru-Axle Adapters # 298-BA1424, or 15-mm Boost Thru-Axle Adapters # 298-BA1425.

Another option is to install the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98840 which installs with only the receiver visible. I included a picture of the etrailer # e98840 installed on a 2016 Honda Pilot for you to take a look at.

Installing a trailer hitch receiver will allow you multiple options for bike racks and other accessories. I recommend the Thule Hitch Post Pro 4 Bike Rack # TH934XTR which will allow you to carry four bikes weighing up to 35lbs per bike and will tilt down to allow you to access the rear cargo area of your Honda Pilot.
