Parts Needed to Install Tekonsha 90195 P3 Brake Controller on 1997 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner that has a 4-way connector that I need to install a brake controller prefer Tekonsha P3 and 7-way on. I see various kits for the brake controller and the connector conversion, but Im confused on if I need both. Thank you!

Since your 1997 Toyota 4 Runner isn't prewired for a brake controller, you'll need to hardwire the Tekonsha P3, part # 90195. Since your vehicle already has a 4 pole, the only other item you'll need to complete the installation is our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit includes the # 37185 adapter you'd looked at, as well as all the wire, hardware and circuit breakers needed to complete the installation.
I've linked to some demonstration videos and a help article that you might find helpful.
