Let's start with the 7-way and the best option to add a 7-way for your 2005 Nissan Xterra is with a harness from Tekonsha, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118266.
The Tekonsha brand of harness is the best because we have found these to be the most reliable. This does include the complete 7-way harness as well as the necessary relays needed for your Xterra. Then in regards to the brake controller the one I really like for you is the Brake EVN # TK63VR .
The Brake EVN is a great value due to its unique combination of quality and cost-effectiveness. This controller will give you smooth braking, is easy to use, and has a bright display that is simple to read and understand. For a combination of quality, reliability, and price, there really isn't a better option than the Brake EVN.
To install the Brake EVN in your Xterra, all you need is the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3050-P.
