so does this kit include everything? will the total length be 74 inches total. and if so how easy is it to hook up the extension.

When assembled, the Yakima MegaWarrior basket plus extension would be 74 inches long. The kit includes the basket, the extension, the load bar and the mounts to attach the basket to the roof rack crossbars. Several optional accessories such as a Hi-Lift Jack Bracket # Y07077, Spare Tire Carrier # Y07076, Light Mounting Bracket # Y07075 and an Axe/Shovel Bracket # Y07078 are sold separately.

As you can see by examining the instructions I have linked you to, installation of the extension piece is pretty simple.
