Compatibility of Longer Rhino-Rack Crossbars on 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

Hello, I’m looking into the Rhino-Rack roof rack system for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The Jeep has the black and chrome side rails and when I enter the vehicle info, it lists that system as one of the recommended fits. It comes with 49” cross bars. However, I was wondering if the 54” length cross bars would still work fine with the system instead of the 49”?

The answer is yes. You can use the 54 inch crossbars instead of the 49 inch crossbars on a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Longer crossbars only become an issue (legally) when they extend past the side mirrors in some states. If you were to go any larger you may have mounting channel length issues as the channel underneath doesn't run the full length of the bar like the top channel does.
