Bike Rack Recommendation That Allows Tailgate to Fold Down Bikes Loaded 2019 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I am looking for a hitch bike rack for my 2019 tacoma. I am looking for a bike rack that will work mountain bikes, and that has a tilt or swing out function where I can get full access to the tailgate without taking the bikes off the rack. This rack must also have high clearance no lower than the hitch. Thanks in advance.

The best solution for truck bed access for a bike rack is a swing away bike rack like the Thule Apex Swing # TH9027XT which will swing out and away from the rear of the vehicle to give you total access to the truck bed. I have a similar swingout cargo carrier and it's really convenient. I attached a picture that shows the rack swung out as well as a review video link on this page as well.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
