What Is Needed To Swap Tekonsha P3 Between 2009 and 2010 Toyota RAV4

Question:

My 2009 and 2010 Rav4s are both wired with 4 pin trailer connections. What would I need to use this controller and change to 7 pin for electric brake functions. I like being able to switch controller between cars but dont want to rewire again.

To be able to use a trailer brake controller on your 2010 and 2009 Toyota RAV4 you will need to install the Universal 7-Way Adapter Kit # ETBC7 on both of your vehicles with the No-Drill Mount # 18140. The Universal 7-Way Adapter Kit # ETBC7 will plug into your 4-Way connector and run the blue wire to your trailer brake controller, the black wire to your battery with the provided 40 amp circuit breaker, and ground the white wire onto your vehicles frame.

With the Universal 7-Way Adapter Kit # ETBC7 installed on each vehicle you can install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.

You will hook the black wire from the controller harness to a black wire run your battery with the provided 20 amp circuit breaker.
Blue wire from the controller harness to the white wire that you ran from you 7-way connector.
White wire from the controller harness to the negative post of your battery.
Red wire from the controller harness to the cold side of the stop lamp switch on the back of your brake pedal.

You will need Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness # 20127 and Replacement Mounting Bracket Kit for Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # TK5906 to install in the second vehicle. All you will have to do to swap the Tekonsha P3 # 90195 between vehicles is unplug the harness, remove from the mounting bracket, and reverse the steps to install in the other vehicle.

I included a video of the Universal 7-Way Adapter # ETBC7 being installed on a 2011 Toyota RAV4, and a video of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 for you to take a look at.
