The instructions for the Curt trailer hitch # 11372 do not mention anything that needs to be done to sound shielding but there is some trimming of the heat shields. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. It explains where the trimming needs to occur.
Since you will be using a bike rack you will need one that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch and you are limited to carrying a maximum of 2 bikes because of torque restrictions. I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400, because it fits the description of a Class I compatible bike rack. It also tilts down and has a raised shank for better ground clearance. It also has anti-sway cradles and an integrated cable lock.
Curt also requires the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for all non-trailer loads like a bike rack. I have included a link to a video that shows how it works.
