Parts Needed to Tow and Use Camper For 2019 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Short Bed With Factory Hitch

Question:

Thinking of buying a truck camper and want to tow a RZR Turbo s 4 seater looking for all the mods I’ll need to safely do it. The truck I have is a 2019 Ram 3500 mega cab with the high output 6.7 so my GVW is 11,800 the Curb weight according to google is 6920. The truck camper is a Arctic Fox 811 the dry weight is 2,873 I estimate the wet weight to be around 3,500 to 4,200. The trailer I want to tow is 7,000 pounds the 2020 RZR Turbo s 4 weights 2,100 pounds. What hitch extensions do I need to tow past the overhang and what airbags or other things do I need to level the truck?

Okay, so there's a lot to get to here, starting with the fact that since you need an extension, you will also need to add a TorkLift hitch and weight distribution system. The reason for that is, standard extenders don't have the capacity needed for you to tow, but you can do this if you add the TorkLift hitch and extenders. The only thing I can't tell you is the length you need as that's something you'll have to measure for. But there are a variety of lengths available.

For your 2019 Ram 3500 with a factory hitch that means you will need to add the following:

- TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLD1111-30

- Extender: TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension - 32" Long # TLE1532, 42" Long # TLE1542 or 48" Long # TLE1548

Since the total weight you will be towing is over 9,000 lbs the weight distribution system you will need is the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057 with 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030.

For tie-downs on your 2019 Ram 3500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed with the TorkLift hitch you will need the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs - Front # TLD2141 and Rear # TLR3510.

You will also need turnbuckles, the TorkLift Locking FastGun Turnbuckles # TLS9529-2-LK.

In regards to air bags, there is an option, so long as your '19 Ram 3500 does not have the factory air assist system. I recommend going with the heavy-duty air bags for the most support for your suspension, which is the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F2710.

These have a 7,500 lb capacity for the most stable back end possible on your truck, and to help make monitoring and maintaining the air bags as easy as possible I recommend considering a compressor, the Firestone Air Command II Compressor System # F2219

I have added links below to a number of video reviews and instructions for you to check out as well.
