Can 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Use Weight Distribution Hitch for 300 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
2019 Grand Caravan weight distribution. Reading the owners manual it does not specifically say you can or cant use weight distribution. My trailer is a haulmaster enclosed carrying an 800 lb GoldWing and some camp equipment. I do not think this exceeds the 2998 GVW of the trailer but as the axle is so far back it does increase the TW to over 300 lbs. Which weight dist system is good for this. I do have an old Draw-tight I believe that has a 1200 lb head with 1000 lb round bars for my TT can it be used? Thanks

So long as your 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan has a trailer hitch receiver that is rated for use with a weight distribution hitch, you can absolutely use one. For the '19 Grand Caravan, the hitches that are compatible with weight distribution are the following:
- Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75579
- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98854
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13364
With that in mind, since your tongue weight is about 300 lbs, you will not want to use a system rated for 1,000 lbs as this will result in a very uncomfortable and stiff ride with a trailer that is bouncing, so you'll need a different system.
For a system with sway control, the best option is the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450.
This system is a great value due to its quality and price. You get excellent sway control but at a far more affordable cost than other systems. The only thing you need to go with this system is the 2" Hitch Ball # 40038.
