Best Hitch for BackRoad Driving and Ground Clearance
Question:
I like more clearance under my 2017 Ford Edge for backroad driving, which concealed hitch you recommend?

Two good recommendations for a hitch for backroading with your 2017 Ford Edge SE are the Draw-Tite # 75234 and the Curt # C13234.
The Curt hitch # C13234 has the most clearance among the 2" hitches with 13" from the top of the receiver tube to the ground. It has a capacity of 600 lbs for tongue weight and 4,000 lbs for towing. Curt recommends you use a stabilizing strap like # 18050 with non-trailer accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers.
The Draw-Tite hitch # 75234 measures 12-1/2 inches from the top of the tube to the ground. We measure from there for rise/drop purposes and figure out how high up your bike racks and cargo carriers are going to be. It does have safety chain loops underneath so its true ground clearance is a bit lower. It also has a weight capacity of 675 lbs tongue weight and 4,500 lbs for towing and is slightly more concealed than the Curt.
If I had to choose between the two, I would prefer the Draw-Tite hitch # 75234. The Curt hitch has a higher clearance, but it has a slightly lower capacity and needs a stabilizing strap. The Draw-tite hitch still has decent ground clearance and the bracket below would even help with your backroading to protect your hitch from below.
If you're looking for a heavy-duty bike rack for your off-road needs, I'm a big fan of the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR. This sturdy and reinforced bike rack can handle the jolts and shakes of your ride as well as carry heavy bikes of up to 70 lbs each.
