Installation Troubleshooting for Squeaking EcoHitch on 2005 Toyota Prius
Question:
I bought this trailer from Etrailer about a year ago order 108349674 and it has started to squeak when it has a bike loaded. Im contemplating re-installation, though I did not save the instructions. Ideally once I get it off the Prius, I am considering a lubricant? around the washers and I would like to get the torque recommendations for the bolts/nuts. If you folks have any recommendations on how to remedy the squeaking as well as reference to the install instructions for torque specifications on re-install I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7196 should be torqued to 40 ft lbs. The hitch receiver itself normally doesn't squeak, and lubricating the hardware will not help. Normally you would do the opposite and add lock-tite thread locker like # LT37420.
I'll send you the entire installation instruction link.
