Best Parts to Flat Tow 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question:

Looking for info on flat towing a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I see two good articles on Wranglers however they include up to 2018 years. How about a 2019 or 2020? Thanks

We can definitely get your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport set up to flat tow. To do this you'll need a number of different parts, and I'll make a list for you with the best options, and go over why in more detail. Here are the best parts to flat tow your 2019 Jeep Wrangler:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are great because they have removable tabs which means your Jeep is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing. I have added a photo a customer sent in of these base plates on their Wrangler so you can see how it'll look. The BlackHawk 2 tow bar is recommended because it has longer arms than other tow bars, which make it easier to maneuver when towing, along with a simple-to-use, non-binding release system so you will never struggle just to get the tow bar unhooked.

The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Jeep's electrical system safe, and both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are strongly recommended because they are one-time installs which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and thus are more rigid.

You may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-048-4 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links below to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
