2015 Ford Transit T-350 Van Trailer Connector not Working What Should I check
Question:
We are trying to find out about our van. It has the factory connector on the back of the van for a trailer. We bought the piece that goes from the connector out to a 4 way plug. But it has no power. I read somewhere where you have to run a hot wire. But what do we need to do with that factory connection to get fire to it.

From what I understand your 2015 Ford Trasit T-350 has a connector on the back for use with trailers that looks similar to the Custer Trailer Connector part # KIT-7P-4 and you have added an adapter similar to 7-Pole Round Pin to 4-Flat Adapter part # 47405 to plug your 4-way flat trailer plug into and you are getting no power to the lights at all.
This sounds like a pretty common issue we run into often.
That being the ground wire. This could have been damaged or has corroded at the connection point to the vehicles frame and it is not grounding out the complete circuit. Check the area around the trailer connector for this wire to determine it is in good shape typically it is to the driver's side of the connector slightly. If it is not damaged then remove it where it is connected and clean the attachment point then re attach. If it is damaged you will replace it with a new 10 ga. wire like part # 10-1-1. Re check the system to see if that has solved your issue.
The second most common issue can be that the factory fuses and relays have not been installed or were removed. On your 2015 Ford Transit T-350 check the owner's manual for towing or trailer related fuses and check for anything that may be bad.
