Best Parts to Flat Tow 2018 Jeep JK Wrangler Sahara

Question:

We have a 2019 Thor Quantum 26 ft C Class. We want to pull our 2018 Jeep 2 door hardtop Sahara. Curb weight 3900 lbs Gross weight 4,900 lbs Price is not so important as ease of hookup and unhook with less parts and very safe! You being the professional what would you choose for yourself ? Iam pretty handy and will install myself. Let me know if Iam crazy Thanks

First off, I appreciate your priority being safety! And you are definitely not crazy, a lot of people do install these parts themselves, and we have a number of install videos for you as well which I'll link for you.

Assuming your 2018 Jeep JK Wrangler Sahara has the standard factory bumper, I'll make a list of the best parts needed in order to flat tow it.

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521448-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are great because they have removable tabs which means your Jeep is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing, as you can see in the accompanying photo. The BlackHawk 2 tow bar is a great option because of how far its arms extend, which means your Jeep will track better behind your Thor motorhome for the best maneuverability.

The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Jeep's electrical system safe, and the Stay-IN-Play DUO is strongly recommended because it is a one-time install which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems.

You may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-048-6 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
